Friday Musings, 2.0: On the Curation of Things

Friday Musings, 2.0: On the Curation of Things

Today’s topic: on the curation of things. There’s no rhyme nor reason for it, really, this obsession with the curating of things. Clean the floors, wipe a surface dust-free, for there is a vision in…

Things that Make my Life a Little Softer

Things that Make my Life a Little Softer

Is it just me, or does perfume, lace, and roses make everything just a little bit better? I know I just wrote a post about how to be soft, but it’s still on my mind,…

All About Love; To Keep on Loving

All About Love; To Keep on Loving

Living is hard; loving is even harder. Like life, love is full of surprises. As soon as you think you have reached your highest (or your lowest) peak, something unfathomable happens. Totally unexpected. Good or…

Friday Musings, 1.9: Harsh Shadows on Soft Pages

Friday Musings, 1.9: Harsh Shadows on Soft Pages

A flutter of pages in the morning sun makes me wonder what other women on the other side of the world are doing when they first awake. I know that in many places, life is…

A Love Letter to that Which is Old and Slow

A Love Letter to that Which is Old and Slow

There is a little something special about old things, don’t you think? It’s no secret that in my heart of hearts I really do thrift most of the interesting little pieces we have lying around…

Friday Musings 1.8: The Gift From Japan

Friday Musings 1.8: The Gift From Japan

My friend’s husband is stationed in Okinawa. They sent us a package with little things from Japan. Not pictured are tons of facial masks and bath tablets, which I have been using weekly as a…

What’s the Best Advice You’ve Ever Heard?

What’s the Best Advice You’ve Ever Heard?

It is safe to say that ever since our feet first began to touch the raw earth, we have been graced with advice from those around us. Some of it is perhaps unsolicited and some…

Yes, Virginia, I am a Feminist

Yes, Virginia, I am a Feminist

Warning: this post is fueled by caffeine, inability to sleep, and the sound of me ripping my hair out. It’s a little bit different than what I usually blog about, but is something I really…

Thoughts on Having Children

Thoughts on Having Children

For quite some time now I have been at a loss as to whether or not I ever want to have children. Everyone older than you wants to blather away about how selfish childless adults…

10 Things to Reassure Yourself When You Feel Hopeless

10 Things to Reassure Yourself When You Feel Hopeless

With the harshness of the world around us, it is easiest to put our control towards ourselves. To try and make ourselves prettier, thinner, happier… we live in a world of clicks and likes and…

Taken on a day when the sun peeped out for just a minute and I actually felt like doing things. The fatigue is real lately, but there are some things I make a point to inhale: the scent of fresh cut grass, shades of mauve, tinges of lace, the feeling of my dog's breath, and the golden sunsets reflecting off my plants. Happy Easter all! "In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Luke 24:5-7 Happy almost Easter! Happy first day of spring, little one. Next spring I will take you outside in the golden light and point to each of the flowers, explaining their colors and which ones are my favorites. I will show your new little eyes every precious bud and let you smell each perfume as if it was brand new to the world, for to you, it shall be. 🥀 Working on a snow day but the view ain't half bad. ❄️🤗 Just tiny little things, ~some thrifted~, that make me think of you, before I even know you. The sun is coming up sooner and sooner and it makes me so happy I could dance. Damn straight it is. #womensmarch I love being snowed in every once in a while. Such a lovely time for reflection, appreciation, snuggles, and pancakes. So these are still up, but perhaps not looking so bright and I really, really should throw them away but I'm not quite ready to say goodbye. Nothing like a frozen morning to nurse a cold indoors with my dogs beside me and a little one inside me. May you all be in good health. ❤️ I love my bedroom, which is great considering how much time I spent there today. Sitting here, on soft flannels surrounded by sweet canine snores, just feeling so happy. Unfortunately, I feel like pregnancy has left me dry, less creative, but I never forget to be thankful for a sunset. So I meant to post yesterday, but I guess you could say something else is affecting my brain. Happy 6th Anniversary to my dear husband. It's been an adventurous six years, with apparently quite a few more adventures to come. Yep, the thing we all thought was never going to happen is set for next July. ❤️ Santa's been real good to me this year. Tired pups from an eventful morning. Merry Christmas. 🤶
