The Return of Grunge (or how to do summer grunge)

The Return of Grunge (or how to do summer grunge)

As each August chapter sprouts, I slowly begin to wish for autumnal waves to enchant my world. As much as I try to live in the moment, it is so very difficult…

On Transforming the Ugly into the Beautiful

On Transforming the Ugly into the Beautiful

A good many years ago, I had an art teacher who told me something that I didn’t fully understand, but has stayed with me through the many cycles of the calendar. “Art does not have…

How to ditch the plan and love the chaos

How to ditch the plan and love the chaos

I did something amazing a few Friday nights ago. I went without a plan. Let me explain, it sounds like nothing, but it was really a magical something. It was barely cold… winter’s full force had not…

How to do Grunge Part 3 + How to Deal with Sorrow

Firstly, forgive me for being late in posting these photos. Besides being tired from shaping the fragile minds of children, I have been a dark place not conducive to writing. My heart is sick with…

How to Do Modern Grunge, Part 2: With a Boho Twist

How to Do Modern Grunge, Part 2: With a Boho Twist

Last week I talked about how all the precious little autumnal bits beckon me into a 90s grunge-inspired theme. This week, I am expounding on that, this time pulling out a little feminine dress in…

How to Transform Feminine, Bohemian Pieces into a Grunge Look

How to Transform Feminine, Bohemian Pieces into a Grunge Look

You guys, I was not very motivated to write this week. I’ll be honest – I’m just tired. I’m not one of those bloggers who has a list of things to teach and chooses her…

American Graffiti

American Graffiti

This is a new mural in the brewery district from the PRHBTN project. This about as close as I can get with it being gated off, but just look at that power. Truly, it has…

Taken on a day when the sun peeped out for just a minute and I actually felt like doing things. The fatigue is real lately, but there are some things I make a point to inhale: the scent of fresh cut grass, shades of mauve, tinges of lace, the feeling of my dog's breath, and the golden sunsets reflecting off my plants. Happy Easter all! "In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Luke 24:5-7 Happy almost Easter! Happy first day of spring, little one. Next spring I will take you outside in the golden light and point to each of the flowers, explaining their colors and which ones are my favorites. I will show your new little eyes every precious bud and let you smell each perfume as if it was brand new to the world, for to you, it shall be. 🥀 Working on a snow day but the view ain't half bad. ❄️🤗 Just tiny little things, ~some thrifted~, that make me think of you, before I even know you. The sun is coming up sooner and sooner and it makes me so happy I could dance. Damn straight it is. #womensmarch I love being snowed in every once in a while. Such a lovely time for reflection, appreciation, snuggles, and pancakes. So these are still up, but perhaps not looking so bright and I really, really should throw them away but I'm not quite ready to say goodbye. Nothing like a frozen morning to nurse a cold indoors with my dogs beside me and a little one inside me. May you all be in good health. ❤️ I love my bedroom, which is great considering how much time I spent there today. Sitting here, on soft flannels surrounded by sweet canine snores, just feeling so happy. Unfortunately, I feel like pregnancy has left me dry, less creative, but I never forget to be thankful for a sunset. So I meant to post yesterday, but I guess you could say something else is affecting my brain. Happy 6th Anniversary to my dear husband. It's been an adventurous six years, with apparently quite a few more adventures to come. Yep, the thing we all thought was never going to happen is set for next July. ❤️ Santa's been real good to me this year. Tired pups from an eventful morning. Merry Christmas. 🤶
